Welsh onions (Noto white Welsh onions etc.)

A beautiful contrast of white and green with careful cultivation for sweetness and soft texture

These onions are cultivated throughout Ishikawa Prefecture. They are characterized by their clear white-green contrast. In order to make the white part thicker and longer, soil is put over the leaf sheath continuously so that it is not exposed to sunlight. “Kanazawa Ippon Futonegi” are one of the Kaga vegetables, characterized by their white part’s thickness and soft texture, which are favored by the people of Kanazawa. Noto white welsh onions consist of two parts: a white part and green part, and they feature a less pungent flavor and are a little sweet. Grilling welsh onions allows us to fully enjoy their sweetness.
