Ishikawa Foods

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are full of nutrients, as the proverb says: “Eating tomatoes keeps the doctor away”

Tomatoes are cultivated in various regions of Ishikawa Prefecture from Kaga to Noto, including Komatsu City, the largest tomato production area in the Hokuriku region and Noto-machi, where tomatoes are cultivated using deep ocean water. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene (the source of their red color), which is effective in the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases and aging. Tomatoes are suitable not only for eating raw in salads but also for use in cooked dishes. JA Komatsu is engaged in the development of processed food using tomatoes, such as tomato curry and okaki (sliced dried rice cakes).
